Mary Kaye’s Owned & Played Legendary 2003 Custom Fender Stratocaster.

Mary Kaye (1924 – 2007) was a well-known Las Vegas pioneering musician who played guitar in The Mary Kaye Trio. She and her band are credited with establishing Las Vegas lounge music at several hotel casinos in the 1950s. Her name is synonymous with a sought after custom style Fender Stratocaster that bears her name. In 1956, Mary was photographed with her trio for a Fender promotional advertisement featuring a new custom white Stratocaster - the first of its kind from Fender. The ash blonde guitar with maple neck and gold hardware later became popularly known as The Mary Kaye Strat. Its translucent white color and gold hardware was the first custom color guitar produced by Fender. She was loaned one of the original guitars for her appearance in the film Cha Cha Cha Boom! Mary Kaye Strats from the 1950s are rare and have achieved cult status. They are sought after by rock and roll stars and collectors alike.

In 2003, Mary Kaye received the first Mary Kaye Tribute Stratocaster, gifted to her by the Fender Custom Shop. The hand built guitar, serial MK-001, is noted by its back plate: To Mary Kaye From Your Friends at Fender. It comes with the original case and certificate from the Fender Custom Shop. It is the only Stratocaster ever owned and played by Mary Kaye. A private collector acquired the guitar from the Kaye family and is now offering this one-of-a-kind historical guitar to the public.

Good condition.
