For most baseball aficionados, anything signed by Babe Ruth would be considered a “Holy Grail” item in their personal collections. While his career was second to none (714 home runs, .342 BA, 2,214 RBI), his life’s story – going from an orphan to becoming one of the most idolized ball players of all time – seems to embody the American spirit.

Presented here is a Spalding "Babe Ruth Home Run Special" baseball signed by the legendary New York Yankees slugger Babe Ruth. This baseball was quite popular with most of America’s youth in the early 1930s. The man with 714 home runs and a lifetime batting average of .366 to his credit, signed this baseball perfectly on the sweet spot. The sweet spot on any baseball belonged to Ruth; he earned it. His unmistakable script appears in bold black fountain pen. The absence of quotations around “Babe” points to this one being signed by the slugger sometime from the late 1920s on. The manufacturer’s markings on this ball, which include Ruth’s facsimile signature on one side above the “Home Run Special” branding, are faded and smudged and its red and black stitching point to this baseball coming from that era. This is an outstanding example of the hobby’s most iconic piece of memorabilia – a Babe Ruth single-signed baseball.

Authentication: Signature authentication from both PSA/DNA and JSA, and a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
