The great Babe Ruth launched a total of 714 home runs during his illustrious MLB career. This lot offers a circa 1919-24 Official National League/International League (J.C. Toole) Spalding baseball signed by the Bambino himself. Ruth signed the baseball in black on the same panel as the official “J.C. Toole” stamped signature of the league president and added quotes around his first name (“Babe”), which was common practice for Ruth especially during his early days with the New York Yankees. What’s more is that Ruth added “59 HR” to his signature which would match his home run total from the 1921 campaign.

It was Ruth’s second most prolific season in home runs, trailing only his 60 home runs hit in 1927. Found on a separate panel is another signature from fellow Hall of Famer Frank Baker. Baker, a third baseman who was nicknamed “Home Run” Baker, was a teammate of Ruth’s on the 1921 and ‘22 Yankees.

This is a magnificent baseball specimen with two HOF hitters represented and could very well be the only known baseball with such an inscription.

Authentication: Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity and a James Spence Authentication (JSA) Letter of Authenticity.
