Being placed at auction is an original marquee of The Whisky A Go Go. This famed marquee stood atop the club throughout the decades of the 1980s and ‘90s, when it was known in neon simply as “The Whisky”.  The sign measures 13 feet in length, by 3.5 feet in height, and 10 inches width. It was replaced in 2004 by a newly designed marquee that returned the “A Go Go” to its neon moniker. For nearly 50 years, the legendary Whisky A Go Go has ruled the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. Performing on its infamous stage is one of the true rites of passage in the world of rock ‘n’ roll and it is credited with having launched the careers of countless bands including The Doors, Frank Zappa, Buffalo Springfield, Van Halen, Motley Crue, and Guns N' Roses. In 2006, The Whisky was formally honored by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as one of the most “important and prominent music venues in the history of rock ‘n’ roll.” The marquee is currently owned by Erik Quisling, co-author of Straight Whisky: A Living History of Sex, Drugs, and Rock’n’Roll on the Sunset Strip.  He acquired it directly from Mario Maglieri, the owner of the Whisky A Go Go. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
