Since the advent of the rock & roll era, concert poster art design has gone through several distinctive stages, as has the music. As the "boxing style" posters of the 1950's and early 1960's gave way to the San Francisco-based, psychedelic style that took hold in the mid-‘60's, by the early 1970's, no single style of poster art could be considered as the prevalent standard. Nowhere is this more evident than in this collection of thirty four 1970's posters; a veritable potpourri of different design and musical styles. Among the wide-ranging array of artists represented: Grand Funk, Mike Bloomfield & Electric Flag, Peter Tosh, Laura Nyro, Mountain, Three Dog Night, Leon Russell, Bonnie Raitt, Uriah Heap, Carpenters, Kinks, Chicago, John Mayall, Traffic, Ted Nugent, ZZ Top, Doobie Brothers, Captain & Tennielle, Ten Years After, and many others. A sampling of the collection is featured here, many more of the posters will be shown in the online auction. Sizes vary from 14" x 22" up to 22 x 28" with a few smaller exceptions. Overall condition is EX. with at least half being NM. to MT. Estimate $3,000-$5,000.
