These are Bob Dylan’s handwritten working lyrics for his iconic song “It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue.” Bob Dylan’s songwriting is considered by many to be the most important in Folk and Rock & Roll, and among his anthology this song is certainly one of the most significant and essential. Dylan handwrote the lyrics to this historically important song in blue ink, breaking up the song into four sections. With cross-outs you can see Dylan’s genius at work as he refined the lyrics. On the verso Dylan has made sketches in pencil that appear to be self-portraits. Written circa 1964-65, Dylan originally recorded “It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue” on January 15, 1965 and it later came out in March 1965 on his album “Bringing It All Back Home.” This song, a hit with both fans and critics, also drew the admiration of Dylan’s fellow musicians as it has been covered many times by many different artists including The Byrds, Joni Mitchell, Joe Cocker, The Grateful Dead, and many more. The handwriting on these working lyrics is strong, clear and legible. You can see on the verso where it has been mended with tape. These working lyrics were originally from the collection of Peter McKenzie. Dylan lived with Peter and his parents in Greenwich Village when he first came to New York and was performing downtown at various venues and writing some of his most important songs. Much of Dylan's songwriting took place right there at the McKenzie kitchen table! Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
