This is Elvis Presley's owned and worn soft pale brown cowboy hat made by Stockman in California that comes directly from the family of his movie costume fitter, John Intlekofer. It comes with an 8" x 10" black and white photograph of Elvis and Intlekofer, taken on the set of Elvis' 1960 movie "Flaming Star", vintage signed and inscribed by Elvis, "To Johnny, many thanks for all your help, Sincerely Elvis Presley" in black ink. Intlekofer, whose first touch with greatness was playing on the same team as Babe Ruth in a Long Beach exhibition game of semi-pros and a Shell Oil company team ,where Babe Ruth autographed a home run ball to him. Intlekofer's pro baseball career was brought to a quick end when still a rookie with the Chicago White Sox when he suffered an injury on the field and ended up playing, coaching and managing teams in the minor leagues. From 1931 to 1949 Intlekofer worked in the minor leagues and towards the end began working in the movie business, ending up at 20th Century Fox as a costumer. It was there that he met Elvis and chose his clothes for his first film "Love Me Tender". He worked with Elvis on some of his other films as well, including "Flaming Star". The hat and vintage inscribed photograph come from the Intlekofer family and are in excellent condition. Accompanied by a copy of a newspaper article detailing Intlekofer's life and relationship with Elvis Presley. Estimate: $3,000 - $5,000.
