Wilt Chamberlain Owned & Worn Gold Shoes.
These bright gold, very large, shoes were owned and worn by basketball great Wilt Chamberlain. The shoes comes from the personal collection of Irwin Pate who was a booking and promotional manager for many years, most known for his work and relationship with James Brown, as they were work associates and close friends.
According to the very detailed letter from Irwin Pates widow, Clarine, over the many years of Irwin's illustrious career, Irwin and his wife obtained many stage and personally worn and used clothing and accessories from many entertainers in the business, including of course James Brown. Irwin and Clarine started their collection back in the 1940's. Included in this collection was this pair of size 15 gold tone shoes that belonged to Wilt Chamberlain. Wilt gave Irwin the shoes for his collection after an event they both attended.
