Vaudevillian, actor and popular humorist Will Rogers (1879-1935) has signed this photograph standing before an airplane alongside record breaking aviator Frank Hawks (1897-1938) who has also signed. Will Rogers was a strong supporter and fond of aviation who traveled around the world three times. Hawks flew as a pilot during WWI, a pursuit that he made his career. Ironically both Rogers and Hawks died in air accidents. Rogers died aboard a flight in 1935 with his friend and famed aviator Wiley Post while surveying a mail and passenger route from the West Coast to Russia. Hawks died in 1938 flying an experimental aircraft. Hawks had personalized his signature.
8 X 10. Crease in lower left corner just touching Rogers autograph. Good condition.
