Vishnu, The Keeper of The Cows, A Painting, Formerly the property of Srila Prabhupada, George Harrison, John Lennon, and Beatle “Mr. Fixit” Alistair Taylor.
The painting was commissioned by the founder of the Hare Krishna movement, Srila Prabhupada in 1967, it was created in Montreal, Canada, it held pride of place in various offices and buildings that Prabhupada occupied, in 1968, the movement dispatched a group of devotees to London, England, in an attempt to garner support from The Beatles, the gift they were carrying as they set out for London, was this very painting. On arrival in the UK the devotees set out for Apple where they quickly found financial and emotional support in the form of George Harrison, the painting was gifted to George and he took it home to ‘Kinfauns’ his bungalow in Esher, the painting was present at various concerts given by the Raha Krishna Temple in late 1968/69, it then moved to Friar Park in Early 1970 where it was hung in George and Pattie’s private rooms, in mid-1970, John Lennon had made space available within the grounds of Tittenhurst Park for the devotees to establish a temple, this painting hung over the alter within the temple, when John decided to relocate to NYC in 1971 he called Alistair Taylor around for a final drink, John gifted the painting to Alistair. Complete with a letter from Alistair on ‘Apple Words’ stationery and a photograph of the painting being held aloft at Tittenhurst Park, additional images of the painting within the quarters of Srila Prabhupada. A more recent copy of this painting can be seen at the Bhaktivedanta Manor Temple in Oxfordshire, England, the house was a gift from George Harrison to the ISKCON movement, there are significant structural and design differences between the modern tribute painting to the 1967 original.

Authentication: A letter from Alistair Taylor on "Apple Words" stationery, a detailed certificate with pictures from Sanjay Khemani, CEO Curator of The Rock Mart in Beverly Hills, California, the two photographs shows in this listing, and a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
