The Jam Bruce Foxton Handwritten & Signed "Smithers-Jones" Lyrics.

The Jam's co-founding member Bruce Foxton has handwritten and signed the lyrics to their single "Smithers-Jones" in black ink on two sheets of white stationery. “Smithers-Jones” was originally released as the B-side to The Jam’s 1979 single “When You’re Young.” It is notable for its departure from their usual punk and mod-inspired sound, embracing a more baroque pop sound with the inclusion of a string section.Written by The Jam’s bassist and backing vocalist, Bruce Foxton, he drew inspiration from his father’s experience of being made redundant. The lyrics reflect the frustration and disillusionment many working-class individuals face in a society that values productivity and profit over personal well-being.The song can be found on The Jam's 1979 album “Setting Sons," an album that explores themes of disillusionment, nostalgia, and societal pressures.

The Jam were an English rock band formed in 1972 in Woking, Surrey. They released 18 consecutive top 40 singles in the United Kingdom, from their debut in 1977 to their break-up in December 1982, including four number one hits.
