The Beatles 1964 Unreleased Two Hour Interview with Murray The “K” from their First U.S. Tour - Incredible Content on Two Reel-to-Reel Tapes!

Offered here is a super unique item, a two hour unreleased interview between The Beatles and Murray “The K” from March 1964. The interview took place during the Beatles first U.S. tour.

Provenance: From the collection of Jack Good. Jack Good was a British television producer, musical theater producer, record producer, musician and painter of icons. As a television producer, he was responsible for the early popular music shows "Six-Five Special", "Oh Boy!", "Boy Meets Girls" and "Wham!!", the first UK teenage music programmes.

Per Jack Good, “In March 1964 Murray “The K” gave me the WINS airchecks of the exclusive interviews that Brian Epstein had granted him with the Beatles. They were contained in two 7” boxes of quarter-inch tape, recorded at 7/12. Murray hoped that in listening to these tapes, I would realize that he was now firmly established as “The Fifth Beatle '' and that he should therefore have a prominent role in “Around the Beatles”, the first Beatles T.V. Special, which I was then producing. I thanked him for his gift and stashed the tapes away. I had already decided that Murray was a liability to the program. But Brian had promised him an appearance, so I gave him about 90 seconds. I forgot about the tapes for about thirty years. One day, I came across them and listened to them for the first time. They were wonderfully real, beautifully recorded and immediately took me back to those few days in the Plaza Hotel when I was hanging out with Brian Epstein and the Beatles. I had forgotten that I was present at a couple of these interviews. It all came back vividly. How much I loathed Murray the K and his condescending attitude, and how much I enjoyed the Beatles putting him in his place. How do I know that these tapes are unique and have not been copied, taped off the air or bootlegged? The obvious reason is that these recordings were made over 35 years ago and have never been heard since. There can be no explanation for these facts other than that these tapes are unique and have never been heard. To hear the Beatles, cool as cucumbers, joking their way out of the Plaza on their way to Carnegie Hall is perhaps comparable to hearing Shakespeare leaving the Mermaid Tavern on his way to the Glove for the first night of Hamlet.” - Jack Good 1999.

The tapes have been digitized and a full transcript will be available to the winning bidder along with a full audio recording of the full interview, which is just over 2 hours.

Certain snippets will be made available in this lot and on our YouTube channel.

Good condition.
