With road manager Bob Bonis doing his best to keep the Stones out of harm's way, the band's first visit to West Germany was a short, but riotous, five-city affair in September '65. Bill Wyman recalls: "In West Berlin...there were police with dogs everywhere...the crowd was estimated at between 21,000 and 23,000..." and a newspaper account reported "damage to the open-air theatre, which looked like a battlefield, was estimated at 27,000 pounds." Produced by tour sponsor BRAVO magazine, the posters allow for venue, date and ticket information to be printed in the horizontal white strip along the bottom. Folded in sixths, the poster exhibits a series of vertical tears measuring between .25" and 2.5" along the tops and spaces between four of the Stones' heads as well as 1" tears and nicks to the upper and right-hand edges. Estimate $900-$1,100.
