Signatures include: William Barksdale (Confederate Brigadier General who was mortally wounded during the Battle of Gettysburg); two signature cuts of George Dewey (2) (Admiral Spanish American War, Hero of the Battle of Manila); Union General George B. McClellan; three cut signatures of Rear Admiral Winfield S. Schley (3) (Hero of the Battle of Santiago de Cuba during the Spanish-American War); and Charles E. Clark (Appointed Rear Admiral 1902, Civil War served during the Battle of Mobile Bay and Commanded battleship Oregon during Spanish-American War – Battle of Santiago de Cuba).
