A group of three signed decorated postal envelopes. Two commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the sinking of the Bismarck and the other the 35th Anniversary of the Bismarck sinking. The battle of the Bismarck took place in the Atlantic Ocean to the west of France on May 26-27, 1941 between the German battleship and the air and naval elements of the British Royal Navy. Signing one of the two 50th anniversary envelopes are Lieutenant A.E.P. Briggs, Leading Seaman R. E. Tilburn and certified by Group Captain W.S.O. Randle; the other signed by Captain E.S. Carver and Commander F.A. Swanton and certified by Group Captain W.S.O. Randle. Each include biographical and summary insert cards. The 35th Anniversary envelope is signed by Capt. Leonard B Smith and N.C. Day, Sqn Ldr, Project Officer. 6.5 X 4.5 – 7.5 X 4.5. Very good condition.
