Sergeant Alvin C. York has signed this 4 X 2.25 card inscribed from his home in Pall Mall, Tennessee. Sergeant York was one of the most decorated US Army soldiers of World War I. York received the Medal of Honor for leading an attack on a German machine gun nest, capturing 35 machine guns and 135 prisoners during an offensive in France. In 1941 actor Gary Cooper played Sergeant York in the so titled film which was nominated for eleven Oscars and for which Cooper won the Academy Award for Best Actor.
