Rolling Stones Brian Jones Owned & Displayed Hindu God Ganesh Statue.
Rolling Stones founding member Brian Jones owned and displayed this multi-headed Hindu elephant god Ganesh at his home Cotchford Farm in Hartfield, Sussex, England. The heavy statuette is hand-cast metal measuring approximately 10 inches in height. Ganesh is standing on a base (part of the carving) that measures 3.5 inches in diameter and has the number "1,800" and the artists initials on the bottom. A multi-headed depiction of Ganesh is rare and is seldom displayed as such.
Provenance: According to the detailed Certificate of Authenticity, this statuette comes from the Jones family (Brian Jones tragically died in July, 1969). According to Brian's father, the statuette was taken from Brian's living room at Cotchford Farm, and Brian had most likely obtained it in Sri Lanka, during one of his visits to noted author and futurist Arthur C. Clarke (author of "2001: A Space Odyssey). In addition, Rolling Stones manager Sam Cutler has examined the statuette and determined by his close association with the Rolling Stones that it is completely original and authentic.
