Rare Revolutionary War payment voucher signed by Oliver Wolcott, Jr. dated June 19, 1783. The 8.5 X 6.5 voucher is framed to measure 17 X 18.5 with an inset title and description, “Balance due Traverse Clark, deceased, for service in the Continental Army before 1780 approved and signed by Oliver Wolcott Jr. (1760-1833). Graduated from Yale in 1778, studied law in Litchfield and was admitted to the bar in 1781. He was Controller of Public Accounts in Connecticut and Auditor of the Federal Treasury. In 1795 he succeeded Alexander Hamilton as Secretary of the Treasury. He was elected Governor of Connecticut in 1817 and served until 1827.” Framed 17 X 18.5. Very good condition.
