If not the scarcest of baseball uniforms from the past six decades, this rare offered uniform from the 1979 Miami Amigos of this short lived minor league team of the Inter-American League is certainly among the most visually stunning. The colorful Rawlings jersey (size 44) bears the uniform number “24.” Accompanied by an equally colorful baseball cap embroidered with their “MA” logo; a pair of pants which repeats the color theme of red, yellow and green about its waist and an Official Program from Miami Stadium. The Amigos were a charter member of the Class AAA six-team league founded in 1979 as the brainchild of Cuban exile Bobby Maduro. Other teams were from Puerto Rico, Panama, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic. Eighteen former major leaguers made up its poster including Orlando Pena and player-Manager, Davey Johnson. The Amigos were declared League Champions in the shortened a shortened season that lasted only three months after which this historic league folded entirely. League finances were not the only factor in the league’s demise lacking any television or radio broadcasts, but bad weather forced many game cancelations as did player travel restrictions due to visa requirements. A most desirable rarity for the most advanced minor league, Cuban or uniform collector. Excellent to mint condition. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
