Paul Leroy Robeson was an American bass baritone concert artist, stage and film actor, athlete, and activist who became famous both for his cultural accomplishments and for his political stances. In 1915, Robeson won an academic scholarship to Rutgers College. Robeson has signed and inscribed this photograph in fountain tip pen. Robeson wrote, “Sincerely” while dating the photo 1931. Very good condition. This lot comes from the extensive personal collection of a life-long collector of Historical, Entertainment and Sports artifacts and memorabilia. The collector has amassed a virtually unmatched collection that is one of the largest we have ever seen. This lot comes with a letter from Gotta Have Rock and Roll.com stating that it was sold in the Gotta Have History Winter Auction, February 16-25, 2022.
