Muhammad Ali “The Last Hurrah!” 10/2/1980 Fight Worn MacGregor Trunks.

The MacGregor boxing trunks worn by Muhammad Ali during his fight 'The Last Hurrah!' vs Larry Holmes on October 2nd, 1980, the satin trunks are white with black trim, the maker's label on the front elasticated waistband.

Due to concerns for Ali's health, the Nevada State Athletic Commission had the former champion examined at Minnesota's Mayo Clinic as a prerequisite to being granted a boxing license. Doctors determined that there were no specific findings to prohibit Ali from fighting. There were no knockdowns, but Holmes dominated the fight and was given every round by all three judges. Holmes won through a technical knockout after Ali's trainer Angelo Dundee stopped the fight after the tenth round.

Provenance: From the Collection of German Sport Reporter Hartmut Scherzer, who got them in Ali‘s dressing room in Las Vegas after the fight. Ali's trainer Angelo Dundee was Mr. Scherzer's close friend and presented the trunks to him.

Authentication: Letter of Provenance and a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
