Michael Jackson Owned & Worn Wig from His Personal Collection.

Michael Jackson was a one-of-a-kind entertainer, truly gifted and driven not just by the proverbial beat of his own drum but to a pop culture rhythm all to its own. Whatever that energy was it still moonwalks all over the place of today’s culture. The music business lost an iconic cornerstone when he died.

Presented direct from the Jackson family is this exclusive collection provided by Marsha Stewart. Who is Marsha Stewart?

Marsha Stewart is part of the Jackson Family, and was very close to Joe as well as the rest of the family. According to the legal binding contract from the Joe Jackson Estate, Marsha Stewart was Joe Jackson’s niece and Michael Jackson’s cousin. She is also seen throughout the Jackson Family reunion videos as well as standing side by side with the family during the troublesome Court Hearings in LA. Toward the end of his life, she was also the caretaker of Joe Jackson. As fan mail chairwoman, Marsha was also the supervisor of Michael Jackson’s fan mail for years. There are many documents, t-shirts, articles presented to prove her in this role as Michael’s Fan Mail Chair.

Because of this close familial relationship, she was gifted Michael Jackson’s personally worn costumes along with Joe Jackson’s personal belongings and worn outfits. Stewart still holds pieces of Michael Jackson’s legacy and pop culture rhythm within the costumes he wore.

There are several legal documents proving that as part of the Jackson family, Stewart was gifted these items and that she is the sole owner of these items. As provenance for the Jackson items being sold from this collection, we have included copies of these documents as well as a signed letter from Marsha Stewart.

We have vetted the documents and videos proving the validity of Stewart’s relationship to the Jackson family and the authenticity of the costumes and collection. Never seen before, the legacy of Michael Jackson and the Jackson family have been held dear to Marsha Stewart and have been tucked away for years until now. She is ready to share these cherished family heirlooms with the world.

Yes, Michael was bizarre and lived a fantasy lifestyle often tabloid fodder because he refused to grow up. But for his legions of fans, they accepted his Peter Pan like eccentricities because he was a winner. “Thriller” was way more than just a song-and-dance. It became Jackson’s first number one album on the Billboard Top LPs & Tapes chart. Producing the singles: “The Girl Is Mine”, “Billie Jean”, “Beat It”, “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ ”, “Human Nature”, “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)”, and “Thriller”, all reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, setting the record for the most top 10 singles from an album, with “Beat It” and “Billie Jean” reaching number one.

Following Jackson’s performance of “Billie Jean” in Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever, where he debuted his signature moonwalk dance, the sales of the album significantly increased, selling one million copies worldwide per week. The “Thriller” music video was premiered to great anticipation in December 1983 and played regularly on MTV, which also increased the sales of the album. It spent a record 37 weeks at number one on the Billboard 200, from February 26, 1983 to April 14, 1984.

With 32 million copies sold worldwide by the end of 1983, Thriller was the best-selling album of all time. Thriller remains the best-selling album of all time, with sales of 66 million copies worldwide. It is the second-best-selling album in the United States and was certified 33× platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 2017.

Those within the family and closest to Jackson were allowed access to a unique lifestyle perspective. This access also granted permissible reach into the family’s trove of memorabilia.

It was common for Michael Jackson to wear wigs after the famous Pepsi incident in which his scalp was burnt. There is a copy of a personal photo from the Jackson Estate collection, that shows Michael Jackson with a wig, that could be a photo match or at least a definite photo style of this particular wig. In addition, there are several images of Michael Jackson sporting this wig style in various available images in the vast Michael Jackson online portfolio. We have provided all these photo style photographs as pictured in the listing.

This wig is a medium length straight black, human hair, lace front custom wig created and styled for Michael Jackson. It was made by USA Cap Weaver and includes the foam stand. As part of his arsenal of wigs, this particular style is a very notable style that Jackson wore.

The wig shows evidence of wear, by the stitching on the combs being frayed and the back head clasp, showing signs of stretching. Michael certainly took advantage of this wigs real hair look and free-flowing style. Although we cannot conclusively photo match the wig, we can be confident of its ownership, and its wear, as it was gifted to Marsha, directly from the father of Michael Jackson, Joe Jackson. We won’t come any closer to the POP ICON today, then this hairpiece that personifies Michael Jackson.

A photo-matched wig sold for approximately $75,000. This Pop Icons iconic hair-do is certain to be a timeless tribute to his fashion style and music artistry.
