From the Frank DiLeo Michael Jackson Collection. This is the original, final prototype poster for Michael Jackson's 1988 movie "Moonwalker" to be distributed internationally. The 23 x 31.34 prototype poster bears the stamp at the bottom from Bill Gold Advertising, Inc. and comes from the personal collection of Michael's manager Frank DiLeo who also was the co-Executive Producer on the film along with Michael. Accompanied by the original packaging the poster was sent in from Lorimar Film Entertainment to Frank and a letter to Frank from Lorimar that accompanied the poster giving very specific details of the poster and edits that were made to it to take full international marketing advantage for the film and emphasize that Michael was not only the greatest entertainer at that time but also an actor and filmmaker. The concludes with seeking DiLeo's and Michael's approval of the final version of the poster. Frank DiLeo. DiLeo, whose prolific career in the record business touched numerous artists, was best known for his work with Michael Jackson. "Thriller" was released by Epic Records in 1982 when Frank DiLeo was Vice President of National Promotion.. After the huge success of "Thriller," Michael was so happy with Frank's innovative work in promoting the album, he asked DiLeo to become his manager and he managed Michael 1984 to 1989, and partnered with Jackson again in 2009 for the “This Is It” concert series. DiLeo was the co-executive producer, along with Michael, for Michael's full-length movie “Moonwalker,” executive produced three of Michael's Pepsi-Cola commercials (including negotiating a landmark endorsement deal with Pepsi), and eight Michael Jackson music videos including the Michael’s Grammy winning video "Leave Me Alone". DiLeo oversaw Jackson's “Bad World Tour,” and the Jackson family's “Victory Tour.” DiLeo later partnered up with Jackson again in 2009 in preparation for Michael's sold-out "This Is It" concert tour that sadly never took place due to the singer's tragic death eighteen days prior to the start. The poster is matted to measure 23x31.5. The poster itself measures 18x27. Very good condition. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity and a letter of provenance from the DiLeo family, as well as the original packaging it was shipped to Frank DiLeo in.
