Marilyn Monroe's personally owned and worn Austrian crystal necklace. This necklace looks to have been worn by Marilyn Monroe during the early 1960's. Monroe was still testing out which items of jewelery suited her the best. It was rather late in her short life that she discovered that wearing small necklaces wouldn't take the focus away from her face. This necklace perfectly suited that plan as it is a small, not too showy necklace which would compliment her face effortlessly without taking focus away from it. Many times in Monroe's life she opted to go bare necked instead when she couldn't find a necklace suitable to wear. Some of her most famous photographs (like those by celebrity photographer Sam Shaw) show her wearing a classy, stylish necklace that really did complement her face! In fact, a necklace worn by Marilyn Monroe during her Sam Shaw shoot sold for almost $70,000. This necklace offered here comes from the personal collection of Sidney Rosenstein who worked in the motion picture industry, on both coasts, from the 1940's through the mid-1980's. Over the years of his working in the industry, Rosenstein acquired a collection of cinema and star memorabilia. He obtained this necklace from Inez Melson, Marilyn Monroe's business manager in the early 1960's, shortly after Monroe's death. Very good condition. The necklace is accompanied by a letter of provenance from Sidney Rosenstein's son David Rosenstein, the Executor of his Estate as well as a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
