Lyndon B. Johnson and Lady Bird Johnson Signed Letters.

Vice Presidet Lyndon Johnson has signed this letter typed on official Vice President, Washington letterhead in black ink. It is a full signature from the then-Vice President. The letter was written to the Dean of Engineering at the University of Texas (his home state), regarding a matter the Dean had written to him regarding the Defense Department. LBJ, as he is more informally referred to, would become President of the United States before the end of the year, due to the tragic assassination of then President John F. Kennedy.

The second letter offered in this lot, is a letter signed by First Lady Bird Johnson, dated October 7, 1971, written on the LBJ Ranch letterhead in Stonewall, Texas. She has signed it in a brown ink. The letter is addressed to her former staff members from when she lived in the White House and in the Executive Mansion, thanking them for their card and how happy it made herr and she tells them what she's been up to, referring to her new office in the LBJ Liibrary. The first addressee "Liz" is Liz Carpenter, a seasoned reporter, who served as both staff director and press secretary to Lady BIrd. Carpenter helped to portray Lady Bird in the best possible light when, after the assassination of President Kennedy in November 1963, she faced unfavourable comparisons with her stunning predecessor, Jacqueline Kennedy. Lady Bird's letter is acompanied by Johnson's LBJ Ranch envelope that is stamp-dated Pctpber 12. 1971, Austin, Texas, with LBJ's signature stamp going across the state of Texas.

Dimensions: Lyndon Johnson's letter measures 9 in x 7 in. Lady Bird Johnson's letter measures approximately 7.25 in x 10.5 in. The envelope measures 7.5 in x 4 in.

Condition: All three pieces are in overall very good condition, with some light wear.

Authentication: Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
