One of John Lennon's most iconic looks when he was living in New York at the Dakota was his newsboy cap. This blue denim cap is one of the hats that Lennon owned and wore. The cap comes from the collection of renowned booking agent and promotional manager Irwin Pate. Pate was well-known in show business for over four decades. Over his long career, he and his wife Clarine Pate, obtained a large collection of personal clotting and articles belonging to numerous entertainers. Pate knew Lennon and worked with him on a few occasions. During one of their meetings, Pate told Lennon about his collection and he generously arranged to have some items sent to Pate that he no longer needed. Included in these items was this blue denim cap and it has been in the Pate collection ever since. Lennon is shown here on the cover of famed photographer Bob Gruen's book "John Lennon: The New York Years" wearing a very similar hat. Very good condition. Comes with a letter from Irwin's widow, Clarine Pate, on Pate Booking Agency letterhead, and a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
