Jazz pianist and composer Thelonious Monk signed and inscribed this copy of his 1957 album “Brilliant Corners” using a blue ballpoint pen. The inscription reads “Good Luck Jack” and has an “X” beneath Monk’s name. This was Monk’s third studio album with Riverside Records, and was notably also the first album with the studio in which he got to play his own compositions. Monk was one of the most influential jazz artists of all time. Known for his distinctive look and his unique, improvisational style, Monk would oftentimes stand up from the piano in the middle of a solo and walk around the audience for several minutes before continuing the song. Monk is one of five musicians to be featured on the cover of “Time” magazine. Good condition, with some fading to the autograph. Comes with a James Spence Authentication (JSA) Letter of Authenticity and a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
