Two original yellow-paper concert flyer advertising a "Rock & Roll Ball" at the Hotel Diplomat in New York City on Friday, July 13, 1973 featuring KISS before they had a record deal, The Brats and Planets, all for just $3.00. Measures 8 1/2" x 10 7/8". Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss, without a booking agent or manager yet, booked the Diplomat themselves for some of their earliest New York dates well before the release of their first album in February 1974. They started recording that album three months after this gig, for Neil Bogart's Casablanca Records. The Hotel Diplomat had presented jazz greats in the 60's such as Miles Davis, heavy metal with Detroit's MC5 in the late 60's and glam with the New York Dolls in 1972, among countless other acts. Incredibly rare an extremely hard to find originals of this iconic concert. Also very rare to find both of the handbills. Very good condition. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
