The Beatles backstage at the Cavern Club with Neil Espinall original, 16 x 20 limited-edition color photograph signed by the photographer Shahrokh Hatami. This extraordinarily rare photo session captured The Beatles in December 1963 just weeks before their February 1964 Ed Sullivan Show appearance. The world was about to change; for them and for us! Hatami was working with Paris Match magazine and had heard about this band that was going to be featured on Ed Sullivan, like Elvis, and he lobbied Brian Epstein persistently until he relented and told him to meet them at the Cavern Club backstage to have a shoot. Note the clothing hanging up as they had a gig later that evening. A photograph from this shoot was featured as the frontispiece of Newsweek Magazine’s April 1962 Beatles 50th Anniversary issue. This shoot contained the earliest known quality color photographs of The Beatles at the Cavern Club. It was made possible due to Hatami using the latest in color film technology at the time, Tungsten film, which allowed for quality photos in the dimly lit space of The Cavern. The shoot reveals those three famous guitars with the band tuning up for a gig later that day. Walking past them is their dear friend and road manager, Neil Aspinall, who later became the head of Apple Corps., The Beatles’ production and management company. Hand signed by the photographer Hatami; this is one of a limited edition set of 25. Excellent condition. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
