James Brown's owned and worn striped purple leather dress shoes. From the collection of famed booking agent and promotional manager Irwin Pate. Among Pate's many famous clients, he worked with James Brown in the 1960's and they continued to work together on occasion in the following years. They were also close friends and confidantes until Brown passed away in 2006. Over the course of their work and friendship, Pate acquired several of James Brown's personal articles of clothing and belongings which Brown personally gave to him, knowing the he and his wife kept a collection of pieces from the many celebrities he worked with. Very good condition. These shoes are accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Pate's widow Carline M. Pate on the James Brown Productions letterhead and a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
