Kramer Custom Red/White/Black Striped Guitar Dating to 1985 - Attributed to Eddie Van Halen.
This guitar is attributed to Eddie Van Halen as evidenced by the guitar’s original case containing “Edward Van Halen” name stenciled on the front and reverse, in addition to “5150” and original striped red/black/white art on the front, top left corner. The case contains substantial wear on the right exterior side panel, consistent with vertical storage.
The guitar is all original, including its period-correct Floyd Rose bridge & original tremolo bar, and Schaller M6 W. Germany tuners. The guitar’s body is the Kramer Pacer single pickup configuration made from maple. The truss rod notch on the body at the neck pocket was an exclusive feature that was discontinued after 1985, confirming the date of the guitar production in 1985.
The guitar’s original “no serial number/Made in USA” Kramer neck plate was exclusive to “custom shop” guitars that Kramer produced for endorsed artists between 1984-1985. The guitar’s original pickup is a rare Seymour Duncan “SeyJ / Seymorizer”, which were brief in production, hand-wound by Seymour Duncan in the 1980’s often using old Gibson bobbins and magnets. The guitar’s neck is a non-tilt banana headstock design, with large black fret position dots conforming to production by ESP. Fretboard is a maple cap, used only in “custom shop” / non-production line guitars.
The guitar body and headstock feature multiple cigarette burn marks. The volume knob was changed from a factory Kramer knob to an MXR knob.
Provenance: Guitar was acquired by a collector in Canada who acquired it from the collection of Ed Roman. Mr. Roman was a friend of EVH and reportedly obtained the guitar through their relationship.
Good condition.
Authentication: Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
