In 1988, Kiss was going on their CRAZY NIGHTS JAPANESE TOUR. At this time, Eric Carr was using his most notable kit in the USA, his silver chrome Chikara Drumset with the Japanese Chikara symbols. The KISS company informed Eric that his Drums would be too expensive to ship to japan. So as a solution, the band decided to have another silver kit ready for him in japan; but there was only one hitch, the Kit would not have the famous Chikara symbols. The time table was just a few weeks before the KISS would tour, so there was very little time for the KISS company to have more of the drum logos made. Eric was extremely disappointed, he tried a few printers but with no luck. He did of course have one other option, or he hoped he did. At that time, his sister was working as a graphic designer in a New York Based company. He approached her asking if it was possible for her company to produce the logos in time for the tour; she tried everything, but again, there was a turnaround factor and they would not be ready in time. So not to disappoint her brother, she came up with a cleaver idea on how she could create the Chikara Symbols for him so he he would be able to use these on his Silver kit for the japan tour. Not revealing her secret, she was able to reproduce to a tee not only the same Chikara red, black, and white symbols for Eric's SILVER CHROME kit, but a variety of many more; such as the Black on white chikara logos, which Eric also used on huge RED SPARKLE KIT, which can be seen in hundreds of shots of him in concert, during the same tour (Red set with Black and white logos). Eric later recalled in one of his interviews, that when his sister met him at the Kiss office in the city, he nearly fell off his seat; she opened several boxes to reveal not only his drum logos, but several other types which the band, spread around the stage and used on several pieces of their equipment. This story has been well documented in certain interviews and also with his sister. The large Chikara LOGO we are auctioning comes from that original Crazy nights 1988 Japan Tour. Eric brought back a few of the large bass drum LOGO SYMBOLS, and some smaller ones, which he used on his USA Kit too. He gave these larger ones to his parents to save for him. After Eric passed, his parents opened a music store in upstate NY; they put Eric's massive Crazy Nights drumset on display for his fans to enjoy. Behind the massive Kit, gracing the wall, were the 3 original 18x18 round chikara symbols which Eric had given them to save. Eric's dad mounted the logos on 24x22 sheets of black cardboard and used them as a backdrop for the genuine Silver CRAZY NIGHTS drumKit. THIS IS ONE OF THE ORIGINAL LOGOS, USED FROM THAT DISPLAY AND THE KISS CRAZY NIGHTS TOUR!! The logo itself is 18" x 18" round and the entire piece measures 22" x 24". The Logo and board have vibrant color. There are only a few small tack holes at the corners, far from the original Logo. Fantastic condition.
