All we can say to this is ‘Wow’! K.K. Downing is synonymous with everything metal, as much as he is synonymous with a Flying V, and the guitar as featured in this lot screams ‘K.K., Judas Priest and Heavy-Metal’ all at once! Custom build by Hamer in 2003, this candy red V uses an original 1964 V body, a scalloped fingerboard, and a 1959 control rout. It was extensively played by K.K. during the ‘Angel of Retribution’ tour and is featured in the ‘Rising in the East’ DVD (2005), as well as the ‘Diamonds and Rust’ YouTube video, which has nearly 22 million views. In addition to countless other clips and photos, the guitar is prominently displayed on the cover of K.K.’s autobiography ‘Heavy Duty – Days And Nights In Judas Priest’. The guitar as offered here was initially sold in December of 2019 through the ‘Property of Ken (K.K.) Downing Collection’ in London, England. It comes with a signed Custom Order Certificate from Hamer, U.S.A., a color photo of Ken with the guitar taken at the Teenage Cancer Trust concert at the Royal Albert Hall (London, U.K.) in 2007, as well as the original hard-shell case. The guitar shows common wear from use and is overall in excellent condition. Also comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
