John Lennon has signed this one page mimeographed letter dated December 7, 1971, "John & Yoko" in black felt tip marker. Sent by Lennon to Melody Maker in response to the publication of his previous letter, questioning some of the editing in one of the postscripts, and adding 'You may be interested to know that Lew Grade & Northern Songs is preventing HAPPY XMAS written by Lennon/Ono ...coming out in England at all. It will be released everywhere else in the world but England. It's a f***ing shame... and commenting, What was libel ---about saying Paul was camp?" and "The letter was done very tastefully, signing off Thank you, John & Yoko" Lennon had written a letter "to Paul" that was published in Melody Maker on December 4th in response to Paul's prior interview in the magazine. publication, and was published in the December 4 edition. Apparently Melody Maker had made some edits to John's letter in the published edition. His hand-annotation appears in the first P.S. where he has crossed out a word. Measures 8.5 x 11. Very good condition. Comes with a letter of authentication from Beatles handwriting expert Frank Caiazzo as well as a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
