John Lennon 5-Cassette Set of Private Recordings Created in His Music Room at Kenwood, 1967.

John Lennon grew up with The Goon Show, he was inspired for his entire life by the madcap humor, the fact that the show was produced by George Martin was not lost on John when he met George for the first time. John that that "We were the sons of The Goon Show. We were of an age. We were the extension of that rebellion, in a way."

The five cassettes in this set comprise John Lennon’s own personal version of the Goon Show, John is assisted in the provision of additional characters by George Harrison (George provided the Sitar background music), Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, and Terry Doran. John had the ability to drift in, and out of the various accents heard in the UK at the time, Yorkshire, Scouse, Scottish, Irish, Pakistani, and Indian, he creates characters and storylines just like the Goon shows he grew up listening to.

The 5-Cassettes play for around 37 minutes, they amply demonstrate John’s madcap word play, and his observations of newsworthy situations that were ongoing at the time.

Each of the recordings are decorated by the sound effects from the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper, as John was also working on the album at the same time, the finished recordings have not been heard by anyone since 1967, John gave the recordings away in 1967, they have been securely and safely preserved for the last 57 years.

Condition: Very good.

Authentication: Letter of provenance and a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
