John F Kennedy Signed Letter (Senate) 1954.
John F. Kennedy signed typewritten letter on his stationery as United States Senator from the State of Massachusetts dated May 5, 1954 thanking recipient for having sent a booklet making recommendations concerning foreign policy.
While in the Senate, (1953-1960), Kennedy published his book “Profiles in Courage,” which won a Pulitzer Prize. Kennedy served as a Navy Reserve Officer during World War II, eventually taking command of PT109, a patrol torpedo boat that was sunk by a Japanese destroyer with Kennedy and his surviving crew rescued in a highly publicized rescue seven days later that decades later was the basis for a successful film “PT109.” Kennedy’s hereoic leadership followed him. Throughout politics. In 1960 Kennedy defeated Republican Richard Nixon in one of the closest Presidential races in American history to become the 35th President of the United States and the youngest person to ever be elected to the Office of President. (1961 until his assassination on November 22, 1963). Much of Kennedy’s administration famously included areas of high tensions with Communist States including Cuba, Russia and Vietnam and his support of the Civil Rights movement and his administrations relatioinship with Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dimensions: The 6 in X 9 in letter loosely rests in a display that includes its original mailing envelope and an 8 in X 10 in color picture of Kennedy. Framed to measure 24 X 20 (the frame is missing the glass).
Condition: Good.
Authenticity: PSA/DNA Letter of Authenticity and a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
