Janis Joplin's owned and worn beautiful, long-sleeved white crochet top. With lovely detailing along the neckline, front and cuffs, the shirt has a zipper and pearlized button on the back.
This whimsical top comes from the collection of renowned booking agent and promotional agent Irwin Pate, During his very long career, Irwin and his wife Clarine obtained a large collection of personal clothing and articles belonging to numerous entertainers. When traveling on concert tours Irwin often would obtain many of these articles from both tour crew members and venue staff, and some items he obtained directly from the celebrity. Among the vast number of entertainers that he came in contact with, worked with, and knew was Janis Joplin. Irwin worked with Janis on a few occasions and during one of their meetings Irwin told her about his celebrity collection and she then gifted him some of her personal items, including this crochet top.
