This beautiful white blouse with embroidered flowers and butterfly sleeves was owned and worn by Janis Joplin.

Provenance: The shirt comes from the collection of Irwin and Clarine Pate. Irwin Pate was a renowned booking agent and promotional manager for over four decades. He promoted talent all over the U.S. and during his career, he and his wife amassed an extraordinary collections of personal clothings and articles belonging to numerous entertainers, this shirt owned and worn by Janis Joplin was one such item of clothing. According to the very details letter of provenance from Irwin's widow Clarine Pate that accompanies this shirt, when traveling on concert tours Irwin would often obtain these article from both tour crew members and venue staff. This white flower and butterfly embroidered blouse was obtained by a venue employee from Janis, and had intended to give it to his girlfriend, but he kept it for himself as a souvenir, and eventually sold it to Irwin, where it has been in their collection over since
