A rather interesting handwritten note from photographer William S. Murphy dated October 22, 1966 that explains that the photograph selected for the commemorative stamp of President John F. Kennedy was taken by him on November 13, 1958 when he was visiting the home of his sister at Santa Monica, Ca. at the time he was a US Senator. Written on a 5 X 3 card mounted to blue paper, written in blue felt pen. Accompanied by a 5.25 X 7.625 photographic print of Kennedy signed by “Wm. S. Murphy, Los Angeles Times, 10/22/66” and again signed in print, “Bill Murphy, Los Angeles Times, 11/13/58.”
