Tenor saxophonist and be-bop pioneer Dexter Gordon is recognized in 1979 as "Best Jazz Instrumental Performance, Soloist" for his "Manhattan Symphonie," while trumpeter Donald Byrd is lauded for his 1972 "Black Byrd" album as the "Best Rhythm & Blues Instrumental Performance" at the outset of his Jazz Fusion period. 8.5" x 10.5" wood perma-plaques, EX.
