George Harrison Extremely Historically Important Recorded and Owned Original "Somewhere in England" Artist Test Pressing.
"Somewhere in England" was Harrison's ninth studio album, released on June 1, 1981 by Harrison's label Dark Horse Records. This album was the first Harrison album to be released after the murder of his former Beatle bandmate John Lennon; the lyrics of its first single, "All Those Years Ago", pay tribute to Lennon.
Of incredible historical importance, ofered here is the orginal Artist Test Pressing, dated 3/19/81, that was owned by Harrison and that he personally gave to tour manager Robbie Cain. The lot consists of two records, one is Side A and the other is Side B. Each one has the center label with the date 3/19/81 of when the recordings were made, each one says Warner Bros. Recording Studios, and each one states the songs on the album, five songs on Side A and five songs on Side B. This album took a long time to finish in the studio as many conflicts with Warner Bros. took place during the process.
Provenance: According to tour manager Robbie Cain, George gave these artist's test pressings to him in 1981 and it remained in Cain's personal collection since that time, up to December 2024 when he decided to pass it on. Cain had a long history with George Harrison, as Cain spent his life working for bands starting in 1968 at the Beatles Apple Records in London, working with various bands. He became close to George over the years, and also worked with Paul McCartney and Winges in the 1970s. According to Cain, George was very generous and often gave him things like this over the years.
