Extremely Rare Beatles Original "Yesterday and Today" Butcher Cover Album with Original Capitol Records Letter.

An original copy of the Beatles infamous "Butcher Cover" for their "Yesterday and Today" album, with the original vinyl. Upon its release there was such a huge outcry from the public about the inappropriateness of the image of the Beatles wearing butcher jackets and covered with dead, mutilated baby mannequins and raw meat, that Capital immediately withdrew the albums that had been sent out, and issued a formal letter about the cover explaining how it would be withdrawn and a new cover would be created and the album re-released.

Unique to this copy of the "Butcher" album is the inclusion of one of the original letters that was sent out to album reviewers who had received advanced promotional copies of the album, dated June 14, 1966. The letter explains that the cover was meant as satire, "However, a sampling of public opinion the United States indicates that the cover design is subject to misinterpretation. For this reason, and to avoid any possible controversy, or underserved harm to the Beatles' image or reputations, Capitol has chosen to withdraw the LP and substitute a more generally acceptable design."

Because these "Butcher" album covers were withdrawn, it is very rare to find one. And even more rare to find one, with the original vinyl and this Capitol Records letter regarding its withdrawal.
Condition: Very good.

Authentication: Letter from Capitol Records regarding the album and a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity. Vinyl included.
