Extremely Rare Beatles Original Yesterday and Today "Butcher" Cover Album.
A very rare copy of the Beatles infamous "Butcher" cover for their "Yesterday and Today" album. Upon its release there was such a huge outcry from the public about the inappropriateness of the image of the Beatles wearing butcher jackets and covered with dead, mutilated baby mannequins and raw meat, that Capital immediately withdrew the albums that had been sent out, and issued a formal letter about the cover explaining how it would be withdrawn and a new cover would be created and the album re-released was sent to music reviewers, Capitol said that the cover was meant as satire, but it was clearly not taken that way by the public, and so it was withdrawn. Because this album cover was so quickly withdrawn it is very rare to find an intact original cover.
Condition: The cover, both back and front, shows much wear however the "Butcher" image is still very vibrant and eye-catching. The name "Tom Overland" is signed in blue ballpoint pen on the back cover, indicating that was most likely the original owner. The vinyl is not included.
