NFL Hall of Famer and Dallas Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith signed this game worn jersey from his rookie season using a black sharpie pen. Smith game-worn jerseys are incredibly hard to come by since he has held on to nearly all of his memorabilia from his career. This is the only known Smith rookie season jersey to ever come up for sale, making it truly a one-of-a-kind piece. This jersey comes with a letter of authenticity from former Dallas Cowboys equipment manager Buck Buchanan who describes the tags and hemming of the jersey. When the jersey was first acquired from Smith, team officials cut and hemmed the jersey for presentation purposes. All of Smith’s jerseys were ordered with a size four or seven extra length. Afterwards, his jerseys were professionally trimmed by the Cowboys before he wore them. Also, the size tags were always cut off of Smith’s jerseys before he wore them.

Coming out of the University of Florida, Smith was a high-profile prospect but was considered by some scouts to be too small and slow for the professional level. Nevertheless, the Cowboys traded up to the 17th pick to select the “Gator Great” and SEC Player of the Year. Smith was instantly an elite running back in the NFL, as in his rookie season he posted 937 yards and 11 touchdowns in 15 games on his way to a Pro Bowl selection and the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. In Smith’s 15 year career, he won 3 Super Bowls, a Super Bowl MVP, and an MVP in addition to being named to the 90’s NFL All Decade team. He currently holds NFL records for career rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, and rushing attempts. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
