Elvis Owned and "Loving You" Film Production Used Gibson Sunburst J-45 Guitar

Offered here is Elvis Presley owned and played Gibson J-45 acoustic guitar that he used during the production of his 1957 film "Loving You" distributed by Paramount Pictures. This was Paramount's first color film with Elvis and Elvis' second film. It is also the first time Elvis appeared with his hair dyed black, which you see in his opening performance in the film, playing the Gibson J-45 guitar singing "Got a Lot of Livin' to Do!"

Provenance: Inside the sound hole of the guitar is the "Property of Paramount Prop Department" stamp and an "Elvis Presley" stamp (it should be noted here that Paramount did not black out the Gibson logo, as they did with Elvis' later films). As this was Elvis' first film of a seven-picture deal with Paramount and the only film that Elvis' parents Gladys and Vernon appeared in as extras in a crowd scene in the film, Paramount gifted Elvis all the guitar from the film once production had completed.

Condition: Vintage used, good.

Authentication: This guitar is accompanied by a Paramount Pictures inter-office communication dated March 8, 1957 from their production department to their prop department to gift the Gibson J-45 and the Gibson J-200 used in the filming of the movie, with an original envelope from Paramount Pictures with "Elvis Presley" typed on it. The guitar also comes with a letter from Charlie Hodge, also witnessed and signed by George Klein. Charlie, a long-time friend who worked for Elvis and took care of al of Elvis' guitars in which he states that these guitars had a special meaning for Elvis. The photographs presented here, show Elvis playing guitar in the film as well as a photo of Gladys and Vernon in a crowd scene. Also comes with a Real Game Used (RGU) Letter of Authenticity and a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
