This is Elvis Presley’s owned and worn tan suede jacket that he wore at the famous December 4, 1956 “Million Dollar Quartet” recording session. Elvis stopped by the studio that day and found Sun’s newest artist Carl Perkins in a recording session with Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash. Elvis sat down and started playing with them, eventually taking over the piano from Jerry Lee, while Sam Phillips kept the tape running The resulting recordings became known as “The Million Dollar Quartet” session, although Johnny Cash was present for the photo session only. Elvis wore this tan suede jacket that day and several photographs accompany the jacket showing him that day during the Million Dollar Quartet, including the famous image of Elvis, Carl, Jerry Lee and Johnny Cash. The jacket features a zipper in front, ribbed collar, cuffs and waist and two side slit pockets. The jacket bears a “Californian” label as well as one from Elvis’ favorite store in Memphis, Lansky Brothers. Along with the photographs the jacket is accompanied by a letter of provenance from Elvis’ Aunt Delta.
Estimate: $30,000-$40,000
