The guitar was won in a contest for Van Halen’s concert in Sydney, Australia on 4/20/2013. Van Halen did various special giveaways for this concert since it was the first time they were back in Australia since 1998. The winner of the contest was able to meet the band backstage, get a guitar personally from Eddie’s collection as well as have the three Van Halen’s sign it. There are also pictures of the original owner acquiring the guitar backstage.
The EVH Wolfgang Special electric guitar has the serial number AMA-32655. The tuners on the guitar each have EVH printed on them. and the guitar is accompanied by the EVH Special hard guitar case.
Van Halen was an American rock band formed in Pasadena, California, in 1973. Credited with restoring hard rock to the forefront of the music scene, Van Halen was known for their energetic live performances and for the virtuosity of its guitarist, Eddie Van Halen (who tragically passed away in 2020). The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007. The band's line-up has changed over the years, and during 2007 - 2020 Roth was back in the line-up after leaving the band in 1985 to pursue a solo career.
