This is the most prestigious Diego Maradona jersey to ever come up in public auction. A Le Coq Sportif blue and white striped short sleeved shirt, with the iconic Argentina badge and the jersey is hand signed by Diego Maradona on the front with black felt pen. Maradona wore this jersey during Argentina's 1982 World Cup run. This jersey is attributed to being worn on Argentina's debut game against Belgium in the group stage, which was his first ever World Cup game. The consigner of this jersey is a family member of a famous Argentine journalist. The coach of the 1982 Argentina football team, César Luis Menotti gave this jersey to the journalist when he returned to Argentina after the 1982 World Cup in Spain. The jersey shows age and game use. We have photo matched the jersey to the Belgium World Cup match June 13 1982. Pictures match the placement of patches and seams of the jersey. It is our opinion based on photographs that he wore two jerseys in the match including the one we are offering for auction. Maradona is one of the best football players of all time and this jersey is attributed to being worn in the beginning of his famed World Cup career. The jersey comes with a letter of provenance from the journalists family member, a James Spence Authentication (JSA) Letter of Authenticity and a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
