This is a march worn Diego Maradona jersey worn on 10/31/93 versus Australia in Sydney, which ended in a 1-1 draw. This jersey was worn only for the 1st half of the game. The jersey was originally given to Fernando Cáceres, a former Argentinian footballer who received the jersey from Maradona at halftime. Fernando Cáceres asked for the jersey to give to his Real Zaragoza FC teammate Alberto Belsué. Belsué asked for the jersey because he understood the importance of it. It is the jersey that Diego Maradona used after returning to the Argentinian national team after years without being called up except for the Artemio Franchi friendly tournament. Argentina's situation in 1993 was critical, as they were in danger of qualifying for the 1994 World Cup and all of Argentina wanted Diego to return to play for the national team to give them the victory and the qualification to the World Cup. It changed the history of football at that time. No one would have thought that they would ever see D10S wearing the Argentinian jersey in an official match again. In short, this is a jersey that any collector would like to have in their collection. A jersey that 27 years after that match can be recognized as one of the great pieces of clothing worn by possibly the greatest footballer in history, both for what he did on the pitch and for the global impact that Diego Armando Maradona generated off the pitch. Alberto Belsué gave the jersey to his nephew Jorgé Belsué who is the current consignor. Very good condition. Comes with a letter of provenance from Jorgé Belsué, a personalized video from Fernando Cáceres detailing the history of this jersey and a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
