David Crosby “Distances" & “Compass" Recording Used 1973 Maple Dreadnought Moller #1 Acoustic Guitar - Also Played by Johnny Cash.

This Moller 1973 Maple dreadnought acoustic was the first guitar built by Lane Moller while apprenticing for master guitar maker David Heiztman in 1973.

Moller went on to build 178 custom guitars for artists including: Johnny Cash, Lindsey Buckingham, John McVie, Carlos Santana, David Crosby, & Kenny Loggins.

This Moller 1973 Maple dreadnought acoustic features an Alaskan Spruce top, Bird's Eye Maple back/sides/neck, ebony neck & bridge, and Grover tuners.

In good condition and plays great with low action.

The guitar has stunning bright treble and clear midrange response.

This Moller #1 dreadnought has been used in recordings by various Artists: (1) David Crosby on song “Distances" (“Oh Yes I Can" Album -Devonshire Sounds Studio) and song “Compass" (“American Dream" Album) recorded at Neil Young´s home studio in Woodside, California, July 1988; (2) Kenny Loggins on songs “Heartlight" and “The More We Try" (“High Adventure" 1982 – Sunset Sounds Studio).

Also played by Carlos Santana and Johnny Cash at the Moller guitar shop in Chico, CA. when they ordered guitars. In 1979, Johnny Cash ordered 5 custom guitars. And the #119 Cash “Dove-Eagle” acoustic recently sold for $118,000 by the Cash Estate. The Moller #102 David Crosby guitar sold in 2023 for $16,500. The Lindsey Buckingham Moller #135 OV-6 sold for $17,300 in London in 2022, and the Moller #142 OV-6F used on “Mirage” Album by Lindsey recently auctioned here at Gotta Have Rock and Roll auction for $14,000.
